Talk about a glow-up.

Coastal Carolina entered its Thursday night matchup with Marshall by debuting glow-in-the-dark uniforms, part of the program’s pre-Halloween festivities that ended with a 44-27 win.

The jerseys were a surprise to the players, who entered a dark locker room to discover the black-lit garments — though they rushed to make sure the equipment was charged in time for start.

“When we got back to the locker room, there was already some chattering and we were trying to figure out what the surprise was,” senior linebacker Dontae Lunan told reporters. “They did a good job keeping it a secret, because we got back to the locker room and we seen the jerseys and they’ve got the glow-in-the-dark lights and everyone’s trying to get their stuff recharged. It was an amazing surprise.”

“It was hard, I aint gonna lie. That kinda threw me off guard,” quarterback Samari Collier said after the game. “Coach [Tim] Beck told us the jersey is nice, but just focus on the game. I feel we did a good job not getting too high with the jerseys, but it was pretty nice.”

The Chanticleers — dubbed the Haunticleers for the night — kept their composure, with Collier throwing for 196 yards and two touchdowns, adding 75 rushing yards and a pair of scores in the comeback win, which saw Coastal Carolina flip Marshall’s 27-17 third-quarter lead.

That included five second-half turnovers, four of them on consecutive Thundering Herd drives.

The Chanticleers got plenty of help from their hometown Conway crowd, which was encouraged to wear costumes to the game and was treated to a Medieval Times halftime show.

“It was a great environment,” Beck said. “I thought it was a huge success”
