A CNN host quit her job live on air Monday during the network’s morning show, “Early Start.”

Rahel Solomon broke her surprising “personal news” on the 5 am broadcast, just months after returning from maternity leave.

Rahel Solomon announced she will be leaving CNN during a live appearance on the network but did not provide any details on her next move. CNN

“I have decided that this will be my last week at CNN. More to come on what’s next for me, but I’m really excited about this next chapter,” Solomon said.

“Thank you to the team at Early Start.’ To the larger team here at CNN – I’m going to be cheering you on. I look forward to watching,” she said. “So this is truly not goodbye, but see you soon.”

The clip was shared on the show’s official X account as well.

The 37-year-old anchor said Friday will be her last day but she didn’t offer more details on her next move.

CNN did not comment. A person close to the company noted that top brass is supportive of Solomon’s decision to part ways with CNN.

Solomon announced on Instagram in December that she had become a mother and that she was returning to CNN after a six-month maternity leave that kicked off last June.

Solomon joined CNN in 2022, working as a business correspondent for CNN International before eventually moving to the anchor gig.

Prior to CNN, she worked at CNBC as a general news reporter appearing on programs including “Halftime Report” and “Power Lunch.” Before that she worked as a morning news anchor for KYW in her hometown of Philadelphia.

Meanwhile, at CNN, staffers are digesting the news that their parent company, Warner Bros. Discovery, is in the process of being acquired by Paramount Skydance for $110 billion. The industry-changing deal is expected to close this fall, putting CNN under the same roof as CBS News.
