This is reportedly the moment a crew member on doomed superyacht Bayesian posted on social media an approaching storm.

Matthew Griffiths, 22, is one of three people under investigation following the tragic sinking in August which left seven people dead – including tech billionaire Mike Lynch, 59, and his daughter Hannah, 18.

The video is said to have been uploaded onto British born Griffiths Instagram on August 19 – the day the £30 million yacht sank – and shows lightning flashing across the sky and illuminating the Bayesian’s trademark 75 metre mast.

Rumbles of thunder can be heard as the storm approaches the yacht which is anchored off the Sicilian fishing village of Porticello near Palermo and is unwittingly accompanied by the ACDC hit Thunderstruck.

The video was broadcast by Italian news programme Quarta Repubblica earlier this week after they claim it was located on Griffiths – now closed – Instagram account.

Griffiths, who lives in the south of France with his parents, is under investigation along with New Zealand skipper James Cutfield, 51, and Briton chief engineer Tim Parker Eaton, 59, for multiple manslaughter and causing a disaster.

Griffiths was on watch when the storm hit the Bayesian and has told investigators he and the crew did all they did to save the passengers onboard but six of them and the yacht’s chef died.

Griffiths reportedly told investigators: ‘I woke up the captain when the wind was 20 knots (23mph). He gave orders to wake everyone else up,

‘The yacht tilted and we were thrown into the water. Then we managed to get back up and tried to rescue those we could.

‘We were walking along the sides of the yacht. We saved who we could, Cutfield also saved the little girl and her mother,’ referring to passenger Charlotte Golunski and her one year old daughter.

In all 15 people were saved from the British flagged yacht and on Thursday the tragedy will feature in an ITV documentary due to be broadcast at 9pm where witnesses and emergency services involved in the rescue will speak.

The Bayesian took 16 minutes to sink and prosecutors are investigating whether hatches and port holes were left open and not secured despite bad weather being forecast and which local fishermen were aware of.

Giovanni Costantino, CEO of the Bayesian’s builders The Italian Sea Group, has previously told MailOnline the sinking was ‘down to human error’ and blamed crew for not securing the yacht insisting it was ‘unsinkable’.

Those that died also included Morgan Stanley International president Jonathan Bloomer and his wife Judith, as well as New York lawyer Chris Morvillo and his partner Neda and chef Recaldo Thomas.
