Mike Danna became the Chiefs’ de facto spokesperson for all things related to Travis Kelce’s engagement to Taylor Swift.
Danna was the last player set to speak to the media on Tuesday, and news of Kelce and Swift’s engagement was announce just moments before he stepped up to the podium.
“I don’t know nothing,” Danna joked as he got to the microphone.
“When I tell you that was not on my mind, being the first one to talk to you guys about it, that’s shocking to me,” Danna, a sixth-year defensive end, said.
He was then bombarded with over six questions relating to his teammate’s reveal.
“Great for them and that’s a blessing,” Danna said. “Anytime you find that type of joy, happiness and love, I think that’s a beautiful thing.”
Did his teammates know yet?
“I just got told 30 seconds ago, so I don’t even know if they know,” Danna said. “But that’s awesome. I’m so happy for them, Trav, Taylor. That’s a wonderful time in life, wonderful part of their journey. That’s a beautiful thing to see.”

Danna was asked if he’s tried Swift’s famous homemade Pop-Tarts.
“Man, listen, them things will get you in trouble,” Danna said. “Cause those are like dessert and those are like fire. You have one, best believe you’re gonna want two, maybe three. She did Pop-Tarts for whole position groups, I think she did it last year. When I tell you the D-line was all over those. As soon as we found out it was from her, we were like ‘we need about four more boxes.’”
Kelce and Swift announced their engagement in a joint Instagram post Tuesday afternoon.
“Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married,” Swift wrote with photos of Kelce down on one knee and Swift with an engagement ring.
