The women’s freeski halfpipe event came to a screeching halt on Thursday during a scary scene in which two-time Olympic medalist Cassie Sharpe had to be taken off on a stretcher.

The Canadian took an ugly fall as she was going down the halfpipe, making it almost all the way down when she tumbled and slid to the center before lying motionless on the ground for a moment.

According to the CBC, the crowd fell silent, and it took several minutes before medical personnel took her away on a stretcher.

The Canadian team said that Sharpe, 33, was transported to a Livigno clinic to undergo further examination.

Freestyle Canada CEO Peter Judge told the CBC that Sharpe is in stable condition after she lost consciousness, but was awake and talking.

Sharpe fell in the second of her two qualifying runs, though she had recorded the third-best score of the qualifying during her first run, which gave her a spot in Saturday’s final.

Judge told the Canadian outlet that Sharpe is unlikely to take part in the final out of an abundance of caution, but Freestyle Canada is still waiting on updates from its medical staff.

Sharpe won Olympic gold in 2018 in Pyeongchang in the halfpipe event.

She took home silver during the 202 Winter Games in Beijing.

She stepped away from competitions for two years after the Beijing Olympics when she became a mom.
