Cam Skattebo is finally putting one foot in front of the other.
On Wednesday morning, the Giants rookie running back posted a video on his Instagram story showing him walking into the team facility in East Rutherford, N.J. for the first time since suffering a season-ending ankle injury during a Week 8 loss to the Eagles.
“Man, walking into the facility on my own two feet,” Skattebo says in the video. “God is good, man. Just want to say thank you to everybody that supported me. We gettin’ back, let’s go. Gettin’ back to it, let’s go.”
The 23-year-old dislocated his right ankle while getting tackled from behind midway through the second quarter that made for a gruesome scene some of his Giants teammates had to turn away from. Skattebo was later carted off the field with his ankle in an air cast and received a standing ovation at Lincoln Financial Field.
Skattebo detailed more of the injury on YouTuber N3on’s show in November, saying he broke his fibula and “tore the ligament that goes from here [pointing to the top of his foot] to my ankle.”
“Since the bone broke, a full dislocation of the ankle. It was like 90 degrees,” he went on. “There’s a tendon that holds your two bones together at the ankle, that also tore. So they put, it’s called a tightrope, they put it inside. They drill a hole in your bones and they put it in there and it holds your bones together. But it’s really hard to do again — that won’t tear.”
Skattebo previously had his right foot in a boot and utilized a knee walker to get around.
However, the brutal injury hasn’t stopped Skattebo from being active while he is sidelined.

The Giants’ fourth-round pick out of Arizona State had a wild and controversial WWE appearance at MSG in November and sat courtside at the Garden for a Knicks game against the Jazz.
He also was recently out in the New York City Christmas scene with girlfriend Chloe Rodriguez.
Rodriguez posted a series of photos on Instagram on Tuesday. The first is one of her posing in Times Square followed by two of her getting cozy with Skattebo, including a photo of the couple in front of the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree in Midtown.
“Thanks for keeping me warm,” Rodriguez wrote in the caption.
Rodriguez, who is a graduate of California State University in Sacramento, has been dating Skattebo since his college days at Arizona State. She was also by his side at the NFL draft this year.
Before his rookie season came to an end, Skattebo racked up 410 yards rushing on 101 carries for five touchdowns while also adding 207 yards receiving plus two touchdowns.
The hope is that Skattebo will be healthy enough to return for Giants training camp in July.
