Brewers prospect Frank Cairone was “not at fault” in the New Jersey crash over the weekend that left him hospitalized, Franklin Township Chief of Police Matthew DeCesari told The Post on Monday.

The crash occurred on Friday at 10:15 p.m. when a female driver blew past a stop sign at the intersection of Fries Mill Road and Williamstown Road in Franklinville, New Jersey, near Cairone’s home, per DeCesari.

“He was not at fault,” DeCesari said.

The driver and a female passenger in Cairone’s vehicle were both injured and transported to Cooper University Hospital in Camden, New Jersey.

The female passenger was identified as his girlfriend.

DeCesari confirmed that Cairone, 18, was airlifted to Atlantic City Medical and remains hospitalized, surrounded by family.

A female passenger, identified as his girlfriend, was in Frank Cairone’s car during the accident.

Charges are being issued to the driver who caused the wreck, including disregarding a stop sign and reckless driving.

“No alcohol or drugs were involved,” DeCesari added.

Cairone, who turned 18 in September, was Milwaukee’s second-round pick (68th overall) in the 2025 MLB Draft back in July.

Frank Cairone was Milwaukee’s second-round pick (68th overall) in the 2025 MLB Draft back in July.

While he’s yet to make his debut, Cairone is currently ranked by MLB.com as the 28th-best prospect in the Brewers’ system.

Just 17 at the time he was drafted, Cairone saw his stock skyrocket after a strong senior campaign at Delsea Regional High School, where he struck out 94 hitters over 44 innings — hitting the mid-90s with his fastball, according to NJ.com.

“Frank is everything you want, he wants to work and get better, and I think he knows what he is capable of doing and he has everything you want in his makeup,” former MLB pitcher and current agent Bobby Witt Sr. told the Courier Post about the left-hander.

He also impressed at the MLB Draft Combine in Arizona back in June, where he got to pitch off the mound at Chase Field, home of the Diamondbacks.
