Reese Witherspoon’s 25-year-old daughter Ava Phillippe is making her acting debut on Thursday’s episode of “Doctor Odyssey” — and her role has a special connection to her famous mom.
In a behind-the-scenes clip shared by the ABC medical drama series Wednesday, Ava is wearing a two-string pink bikini like the one Witherspoon, 49, wears for Elle Woods’ Harvard video application essay in 2001’s “Legally Blonde.”
Ava, who shares an uncanny resemble to her mom, has her brunette hair up in a bun and is wearing a “V” necklace, after her character Veronica, in the video.
“Hi y’all, it’s Ava Phillippe, playing Veronica on the spring break episode of Doctor Odyssey. Tune in!” she tells the camera.
In the new episode, Ava is playing one of three “vixens” who are after Dr. Max’s (Joshua Jackson) heart. The other “vixens” are being played by two other nepo babies: Paris Jackson, the daughter of Michael Jackson and Debbie Rowe, and Charlotte Lawrence, the daughter of Bill Lawrence and Christa Miller.
Ava is Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe’s daughter. Her famous parents fell in love on the set of “Cruel Intentions” and got married in 1999 while Witherspoon was six months pregnant with Ava. Oddly enough, Jackson, 46, also appeared in the cult classic.
The former couple split in 2006 and finalized their divorce two years later. They also share son Deacon, 21, while Witherspoon has another son, Tennessee Toth, 12, with ex-husband Jim Toth.
Deacon also caught the acting bug, as he played a high school student in two episodes of Mindy Kaling’s Netflix comedy “Never Have I Ever” in 2022.
Kaling, 45, is currently co-writing the script for “Legally Blonde 3” for the big screen. Witherspoon, for her part, is working on Amazon Prime Video’s upcoming “Legally Blonde” prequel series.
In Dec. 2021, Ava told E! News’ Daily Pop that after pursuing modeling, she wasn’t ruling out also being an actor.
“I don’t see it out of the question, certainly,” she said. “I’m not so sure on where I’m going yet.”
“My parents have always encouraged me to choose the path that’s right for me and, you know, guide me along the way to make better choices than I might make,” she continued. “I’m so grateful for that.”
Ava added, “That is such a privilege to have parents that support you in that way and to want you to be who you truly are meant to be. So I think I’m trying to do that.”
Also in 2021, Witherspoon went on the “Armchair Expert” podcast and reflected on raising Ava as a single mom.
“I did not have a lot of support with my first baby and I learned really early, like this is not going to work,” the “Morning Show” star shared. “I was lucky enough to have money saved and I didn’t have to work, but it’s just not a one-person job.”
The following year, Witherspoon said on “Today with Hoda and Jenna” that she and Ava do not agree with the public sentiment that they look identical.
“It’s so funny! She and I don’t see it that much,” she admitted.
