Belarusian tennis star Aryna Sabalenka joked that she was not fully prepared for the moment her boyfriend, Brazilian businessman Georgios Frangulis, proposed to her Tuesday night, as seen in a joint Instagram video.
The four-time Grand Slam winner put her massive oval-cut diamond ring on display, and shared that she was surprised by the grand gesture — which included tons of pink flowers and candles in an outdoor setting.
“Well, I obviously had NO idea this was happening tonight,” Sabalenka, 27, captioned an Instagram Story video while flashing her engagement ring.
“Well guys, everything happened, but just look how I look,” said Sabaleka, who turned the camera to show her and Frangulis sitting together at a dinner.
“Pretty as f–k,” Frangulis said.
Sabalenka appeared to be taking a photo of Frangulis before he got down on one knee and presented her with the ring.
“You & me, forever ♾️ 3.3.26 💍🤍,” they captioned the post.
In January, Sabalenka “put some extra pressure” on Frangulis to take the next step in their relationship after she won the Brisbane International title.
“Thank you to my boyfriend… Hopefully soon I can call you something else, right?” a laughing Sabalenka said after defeating Ukraine’s Marta Kostyuk, 6-4, 6-3, on Jan. 11.
“Let’s just put some extra pressure, right?”
Frangulis was seen laughing while in the stands.
Sabalenka laughed when asked if she was “calling for the wedding ring” in a post-match interview.
“I just put in some extra pressure, I mean, come on, how long?” she quipped in a video by the Women’s Tennis Association.
“I think by now he should figure it out.”
Sabalenka confirmed her relationship with Frangulis when they were spotted holding hands at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix in Imola, Italy, in May 2024.
She thanked him for supporting her and blew a kiss while he was in the crowd after her loss to Iga Swiatek in the Italian Open in May 2024.
She previously dated former NHL player Konstantin Koltsov, who died of an apparent suicide in March 2024, according to the Miami-Dade Police Department.
