Alex Cohen, the wife of Mets owner Steve Cohen, is stepping back from social media in order to spend “more time being present” in her own life, she announced on her @tiaalexnymets Instagram account on Monday.

The decision came a few months after she had deactivated her public-facing email following the Mets’ missing out on the playoffs this past season.

In her post on Monday, Cohen said that she had “truly enjoyed the last few years sharing moments with fans that they might not otherwise have access to” and that the decision was part of a resolution to “spend less time on my phone and social media and more time being present in my own life.”

“This year I am becoming a grandmother for the first time, and my son is getting married, so many blessings and I want to enjoy every moment without distraction,” she wrote. “I have made lifelong friends through Instagram, and enjoyed the sneak peek into your lives, and for that IO am entirely grateful.

“The Mets will always remain a priority, and so will the fans. Please don’t hesitate to say hello if you see me in person – I genuinely love those moments if you’d like to reach out, you’re welcome to send a note via snail mail to Citi Field.”

Cohen mentioned that the mail that fans send to Citi Field “will be monitored” in her post.

She had been very active on social media prior to the September announcement, sharing behind-the-scenes pictures and moments with Mets fans.

Cohen did not say that she was stepping away because of comments from fans, but after an offseason that saw Pete Alonso, Brandon Nimmo, Jeff McNeil and Edwin Diaz head elsewhere, there has been a growing frustration amongst the Mets faithful.

That’s on top of the ugly end to the season that saw the Mets miss out on a playoff appearance after signing Juan Soto to a massive $765 million contract the previous winter.
