Kevin Knight is running with his career-changing moment — and it’s about time in his mind.
The 29-year-old Georgia native’s babyface momentum on his way to becoming TNT champion in April got to the point where he and AEW pulled off a stunning heel turn to conclude the Double or Nothing pay-per-view in May. Knight hit a top-rope frog splash on Darby Allin as the company pillar was being stretchered off after losing his AEW World Championship to MJF in the main event at Louis Armstrong Stadium.
Knight, whose nickname is “The Jet,” believes getting a moment like that shows the confidence and trust he’s earned from company president Tony Khan in such a short time.
“I’ve only been with AEW a little over a year and people don’t get a moment like that ever in their entire careers,” Knight said in a Zoom interview. “To get that kind of moment in New York City just shows we’re into a new era and The Jet is going to be one of the pillars and faces of that era, and this is just that start.”
