Former New York Giants defensive end Josh Mauro snorted cocaine and partied with several women — including a dancer — in the hours before his tragic death earlier this year, according to a Phoenix Police Department case report obtained by The California Post on Monday.

Mauro met the dancer in mid-April, approximately one week before his passing, and invited her, a friend and two other women to his Arizona home in the early morning hours of April 23, the report stated.

The woman told cops that once they got to Mauro’s residence, he and his friend began snorting cocaine while “all of them” started drinking tequila and listening to music, according to the report.

The dancer said to investigators that after a few hours, she and the other women went to an upstairs bedroom to sleep, while Mauro and his friend “continued to hang out downstairs.”

When she awoke, she said she discovered Mauro alone and apparently dead on the floor. She immediately called for emergency services and made attempts to revive him.

She “described Joshua as being happy and a sweetheart” prior to the incident, according to the report. She also “mentioned he was on a bender for 4 days,” and additionally stated she noticed Mauro “would get frequent nosebleeds and would sweat after snorting cocaine.”

A bottle cap with a white substance in it, a white powdery substance near a rolled up dollar bill, “an abundant number of tissues with apparent blood on them,” and a syringe in a trash can were all discovered near Mauro’s body, according to the report.

Following an autopsy, the Maricopa County Medical Examiner stated Mauro had traces of “fentanyl, cocaine, ethanol, and their metabolites as well as cannabinoids and caffeine” in his system, and his death was ruled an accidental overdose.

Mauro, who played one season for the Giants in his eight-year NFL career, was 35 years old.
