It isn’t very often fantasy managers have an opportunity to add a surefire way to bolster their squad in the middle of the season. Usually you’re “hoping” a player you grab off waivers is useful or develops into that league-winning move everyone craves.

If one of those rare opportunities presents itself to add a can’t-miss option, you have to take it. Injury-prone? Who cares! Talent is king.

Cincinnati’s Hunter Greene has not yet pitched in the majors after undergoing surgery in March to remove bone chips from his right elbow. That’s going to change soon as the right-hander is gearing up for his return.

In his first two rehab starts, Greene consistently hit the upper-90s with his fastball over eight scoreless innings while striking out 10.1 per nine innings and walking 2.3 per nine. He is scheduled to throw 80-85 pitches in a third rehab start Sunday and, assuming all goes well, Greene could make his season debut this week — potentially Saturday against the Orioles. (FYI: Baltimore entered the weekend with the third-most strikeouts in the majors against right-handed pitchers.)
