Giants star Malik Nabers was stopped by New Jersey police in a case of “mistaken identity” on Tuesday as officers were investigating someone they believed had a gun, according to multiple reports.

Nabers did not have a gun and was not arrested nor cited by police as they stopped him in Paramus, N.J., according to NFL Network.

Police reportedly stopped the standout wide receiver, searched his car and let him go on his way when they found nothing.

ESPN’s Jordan Ranaan reported that police soon realized this “was determined to be a case of mistaken identity,” with a person possessing a gun in a car similar to that of Nabers.

It’s not clear if police found the person they were looking for.

On the field, Nabers, 22, is on the way back from an ACL tear he suffered last year during a Week 4 contest, undergoing surgery shortly after.

He then had a cleanup procedure done in the offseason.

At the end of May, Giants head coach John Harbaugh wouldn’t commit to Nabers being ready for Week 1.

“It’s just impossible to predict,” Harbaugh said Thursday after organized team activity practice No. 3. “The goal is to start the season and get out there sometime in training camp, that would be the goal. And we’ll see what happens. If he’s out there, great. If he’s not out there, great, we’ll be ready to go either way. I know he’s fighting like crazy to do his best to be out there. He’s with the guys every day.”

Nabers, over the weekend, made an appearance at teammate Brian Burns’ celebrity softball game, homering and running the bases after a base hit, as seen in video on social media.
