The Mets evaded another injury disaster.
Juan Soto is in the lineup for Thursday afternoon’s series finale against the Tigers, after the Mets’ $765 million man exited Wednesday night’s game due to an injury scare. He is batting third as the DH.
During his third inning at-bat of the Mets’ 3-2 win, Soto fouled a ball off his right foot and hobbled out of the batter’s box.
Manager Carlos Mendoza and trainer Joe Golia came out to check on Soto before he resumed his at bat.
Soto left the game four innings later.
The Mets (17-25) have been suffocated by injuries as of late. Key players like catcher Francisco Alvarez (torn meniscus) and infielders Francisco Lindor (calf) and Jorge Polanco (Achilles) are already on the injured list.
They’re looking for their first sweep of the season against Detroit before welcoming the Yankees Friday to begin Round 1 of the Subway Series.
