Olympic pole vaulter Alysha Newman landed a tryout with Victoria’s Secret after she received a 20-month suspension on April 29 by the Athletics Integrity Unit for missing drug tests.
The Canadian athlete, who won a bronze medal during the 2024 Summer Olympics, shared on social media that she got an invitiation to a casting call for this year’s Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, taking place in the fall.
“See you soon! @victoriassecret 🌸💖,” Newman, 31, captioned an Instagram post, including a snapshot of her modeling a pink bikini.
She revealed the invitation from the brand, which read: “CONGRATULATIONS! You’re invited to attend an in-person casting for your chance to walk in the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show 2026.”
Newman also shared Instagram Story videos of her training and doing back flip tumbles at an indoor gym.
“Prepping for @victoriassecret like how I would prep for the Olympics. Adding something in that scares you weekly,” she wrote, referring to tumbling.
Newman, who is from Ontario, said she “uprooted my entire life” to move to Los Angeles in a TikTok video on Tuesday.
The Los Angeles casting call deadline for the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show was Wednesday.
Those selected for the 2026 show will also be signed to an exclusive contract with IMG Models.
Newman practiced her runway walk in another TikTok video.
She missed three drug tests in 2025, leading to her receiving a 20-month suspension.
“The Athlete did not dispute that she had committed an Anti-Doping Rule Violation,” the statement read. “However, the Athlete explained that the Whereabouts Failures had occurred in the context of a period
of significant personal and professional change, which she described as increasingly disorganized and overwhelming, and followed a decision that she had previously made to end her athletics career.”
Newman told the AIU she planned to end her athletics career, and this is her first Anti-Doping Rule Violation.
