Addy Brown could satisfy a lot of needs for the UCLA women’s basketball team.

Tough rebounder, reliable scorer, unselfish passer, veteran presence — the transfer forward from Iowa State brings all of those qualities to the Bruins after committing to her new team Thursday.

One of the nation’s most versatile players, Brown announced her decision on X, formerly Twitter, posting a picture of herself in a UCLA jersey while pulling out the top with her fingers to emphasize the four letters.

“New beginnings,” Brown wrote, adding a blue and gold heart.

The 6-foot-2 Brown projects as a major addition after spending her first three college seasons with the Cyclones. She was strong across the board as a junior, averaging 11.9 points, 8.8 rebounds and 5.3 assists despite missing 11 games because of a lower-body injury.

Moving her way into the Iowa State record book with a season to spare, Brown finished her career as the Cyclones’ 25th all-time leading scorer with 1,211 points. She also tied for sixth in school history with 8.1 rebounds per game and ranked seventh with 460 assists.

As a sophomore, when Brown played in every game, she was an All-Big 12 Conference second-team selection.

A former McDonald’s All-American from Kansas, Brown becomes the fourth UCLA transfer addition, joining point guard Elina Aarnisalo (formerly of North Carolina) and guards Bonnie Deas (Arkansas) and Donovyn Hunter (TCU).

They will join returners Sienna Betts, Timea Gardiner, Lena Bilic, Amanda Muse and Christina Karamouzi as well as freshman guard Somto Okafor as the Bruins try to defend their first NCAA championship.
