The flailing Mets are turning to Christian Scott to help turn around their season, with the right-hander scheduled to start on Thursday against the Twins in his return to the majors following 2024 Tommy John surgery.
Carlos Mendoza added that struggling lefty David Peterson will remain in the bullpen, although he could start games for them “in the near future.”
But for now, the Mets are going with a five-man rotation, with two left-handers expected to be significant parts of that group — Peterson and Sean Manaea — continuing to serve as relievers.
Mendoza said prior to Tuesday’s game against Minnesota at Citi Field that they’ve liked how Scott, 26, has thrown recently with Triple-A Syracuse.
