For the first time since the 2017-2018 NHL season, the Anaheim Ducks are back in the playoffs.

The Ducks last won a playoff series in 2017 — a seven-game second-round series against a rebuilding Edmonton Oilers, just two years after Connor McDavid entered the league.

Now, the Ducks will face the Oilers again in their return to the playoffs, only this time, it’s them just emerging from a rebuild while the Oilers have appeared in the last two Stanley Cup Finals.

Anaheim finished their first season under new head coach Joel Quenneville 43-33-6, and despite a late season surge, a 2-6-2 record in the final 10 games of the season put them in the Pacific Division’s No. 3 seed.
