Do not trash those Dexter Lawrence No. 97 jerseys just yet.
There are no certainties about anything here, but the Giants and their disgruntled nose tackle are still talking, The Post has learned.
The team is willing to give him a significant financial upgrade. However, Lawrence is dug in on what he wants, and the two sides might not be able to get the negotiations over the finish line.
On Thursday, The Post reported that a source stated contract talks had broken off, Lawrence wanted out, and money was not going to change his mind on seeking an exit. Chalk that up to either posturing or an attempt to gain leverage where not much existed. There are bruised feelings on both sides, but the bottom line is the Giants have not given up hope that they can keep Lawrence. And Lawrence would return, if his massive contract demands — despite having two more years remaining on his existing four-year, $90 million contract — are met.
