Now this is something worth walking “A Thousand Miles” for.
Fresh off a buzzy appearance at Coachella with Teddy Swims, Vanessa Carlton is kicking off her 2026 ‘Veils Tour’ on Friday, April 24.
The 19-concert excursion will take the three-time Grammy nominee to intimate venues all over North America up until mid-May.
That includes a two-night stint at NYC’s City Winery on Friday, May 15 and Saturday, May 16.
If you’d like to see her tickle the ivories live, tickets are available for all 18 of Carlton’s North America ‘Veils Tour’ concerts.
At the time of publication, the lowest price we could find on seats for any one gig was $69 including fees on StubHub.
Prices start at $454 including fees for Carlton’s two NYC City Winery spots.
All shows come in support of the 45-year-old Pennsylvania’s native’s recently-released sixth studio album “Veils,” which hit shelves on April 17.
Produced by MGMT and Flaming Lips engineer (and Mercury Rev bassist!) Dave Fridmann, the record’s sound is a departure for Carlton. Yes, she still plays the piano with characteristic virtuosity and belts with the best of them but this ten-track offering skews more indie rock than pop.
Prior to this forthcoming run, the ’00s icon played two concerts at Boston’s City Winery last summer. At both of those shows, she performed 13 songs each night.
According to Set List FM, Carlton busted out fan favorites “Ordinary Day,” “White Houses” and, of course, “A Thousand Miles” along with unreleased (at the time) cuts from “Veils.”
She described the performances on Facebook as “two solo shows, just me and a piano.”
On her 2023 tour, The News House wrote that “Her fingers dance(d) across the keys and [struck] chords with a sensitive sort of strength, making simultaneous singing and playing of intricate melodies look easy.”
As for what to expect this time around, all we know is that the best way to find out what the gifted singer-songwriter has up her sleeve is live.

On April 17, Vanessa Carlton dropped her sixth studio album “Veils.”
At the risk of sounding short, it’s exquisite.
With the lead track “Animal,” Carlton goes full breathy, dreamy, Taylor Swift-y over producer Dave Fridmann’s layered, ethereal composition to deliver a wallop that she described as “a song about stoicism” on Instagram.
Her pulsating “Unkown Driver” keeps the record’s lush indie spirit alive before the jangly banger “Woke up High” kicks the record into overdrive. EDM producers take note: Carlton can take the reins from Ellie Goulding if needed for high-octane bops.
“The Mountain” finds Carlton back in her jazzy wheelhouse for 30 seconds before Fridmann takes a sharp left and tightens the instrumentals while Carlton minimizes her voice to surprising intimate effect. Four tracks in and no two songs sound alike. Not bad.
Carlton’s “Great House” is a powerful off-kilter ballad full of indie bells and whistles. All of the attention to detail doesn’t go unnoticed here; listen close enough and you’ll be rewarded to this record’s rich sonic tapestry.
Closing out the excellent record are the high-octane yet mystical “He Was a Dancer,” laid-back, warm jam “Agony of the Flower,” expansive Florence and the Machine-esque anthem “I’m Not Dead,” haunting, baroque “Strawberries in Winter” and deeply-felt, slowed-down title track “Veils.”
Final verdict: Heavy, airy, lively, fully-realized, “Veils” is more than worth a listen. If you’d like to hear for yourself, you can find the adventurous album here.
