Melanie Martinez is emerging from the underworld.

The avant-garde pop star just announced she’s going to play arenas all over North America this summer on her ‘HADES: THE SACRIFICE TOUR.’

Early in the U.S. and Canada leg of the run, the 30-year-old NYC native will make her sole Big Apple stop when she headlines at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center on Thursday, July 23.

This international outing comes in support of Martinez’s recently-released fourth studio album “HADES.” According to Variety, the 18-track record “skewers toxic masculinity, online haters, climate change and lots more” while remaining “intense yet accessible.”

Notable tracks spawned from the biting offering include the breakout hit “POSSESSION,” hypnotic bop “DISNEY PRINCESS” and haunting epic “THE VATICAN.”

“When writing ‘Hades’ I knew the tour for this album had to be immersive and cinematic,” Martinez noted in a statement. “This tour is very different to anything I’ve done before, and involves more practical elements and camera illusions. We’re working on making sure each song gets their moment. I hope it can bring people together under these strange dystopian times we’re living in.”

Some Cry Babies have already gotten a taste of this grand vision. Prior to making the official tour announcement, Martinez played a handful of intimate ‘HADES RITUAL’ concerts to warm up for the globetrotting trek.

That included a concert at New York City’s 3,327-seat United Palace on March 27. At that gig, she debuted all 18 songs from the record in order, according to Set List FM.

“I LOVED IT,” a Redditor shared after attending the concert. “I wasn’t sure what to expect because I’ve never seen her perform, but she was excellent! The stage set up was cool because the background changed…with the song. I loved that they had all the instrumentalists right on stage too!!! Melanie was very active on stage and the crowd ate it uppppppp!!!”

Inventory becomes available first through a pre-sale that starts Wednesday, April 22.

Tickets officially go on sale to Cry Babies and the general public on Friday, April 24 through Ticketmaster but are available now on trusted secondary market sites like StubHub and Vivid Seats.

We only recommend sites with a 100% buyer guarantee, so you know your transaction is safe and your tickets will arrive on time.

Melanie Martinez new music

On March 27, Melanie Martinez released her fourth studio album “HADES.”

For our money, we believe she’s delivered yet another sonically-adventurous, melodically-rich phantasmagoria that’s equal parts dreamy and nightmarish.

After a few spins, our favorite tracks have to be the sing-song-y, stomach churner “IS THIS A CULT?,” deceptively simple anthem “POSSESSION,” Hip-Hop fairytale “GRUDGES,” plucky yet cynical ear-worm “WEIGHT WATCHERS” and snaking club-ready epic “THE PLAGUE” that’s steeped in COVID-era imagery.

Still, the standout among standouts is the plodding epic “GUTTER” that lays the social commentary on thick over an intoxicating accordian that left us spellbound. Think Beirut meets Billie. IYKYK.

To hear for yourself, you can find “HADES” here.

PS: Please, please, please stick around for the slinky spiritual “THE VATICAN” that takes the church church to task in ways you never even dreamed up.

Melanie Martinez controversy

In 2017, the alt-pop star was accused of sexual assault and rape by her friend Timothy Heller over Twitter.

The following day, Martinez responded to the allegations saying they “horrified and saddened” her, and that Heller “never said no to what [they] chose to do together.”

“I know now that assault happens this way all the time,” Heller told Newsweek. “I loved her even after it happened, and I had this sick need to protect her, which I’ve learned is very common for victims of assault, especially those hurt by their family or friends.”

A month after, Martinez dropped “Piggyback” on Soundcloud to respond to Heller’s claims. This year, Martinez’s feisty, sharp “BATTLE OF THE LARYNX,” on “Portals” addresses the allegations once again.
