The Liberty’s Big 3 is about to become a Big 4.
Satou Sabally, the three-time All-Star who helped lead the Mercury to the WNBA Finals last year, is signing a multiyear deal with the Liberty, noti.group’s Madeline Kenney confirmed.
With Kenney reporting that Jonquel Jones is also inking a multiyear deal to return to Brooklyn, that’ll give the Liberty a starting lineup containing Breanna Stewart, Sabrina Ionescu, Jones and now Sabally — only adding to the core that has already sparked two trips to the Finals and one title.
Sabally is the older sister of Nyara Sabally, a former Liberty center who was just selected in the expansion draft last week.
She was the No. 2 overall pick in 2020 and spent the first five seasons of her career with the Wings before getting traded to the Mercury last February, and now, Sabally is the first external splash for the Liberty to start free agency.
