Oklahoma State softball’s matchup with Wichita State on Wednesday was postponed after the team’s bus struck and killed a woman on I-35, the program announced.

No one on the bus was hurt in the accident.

“Today’s scheduled softball game between Oklahoma State and Wichita State has been postponed after the Cowgirls’ team bus was involved in an accident on the way to Wichita. No one from the OSU travel party was injured,” Oklahoma State stated in a press release.

The crash occurred a little after 2 p.m. on Wednesday, causing the northbound lanes to be closed for over two hours. The Cowgirls’ game was originally scheduled for 6 p.m.

Authorities had previously been notified of a woman repeatedly running across the highway, KOCO News 5 reported.

The victim has yet to be identified.

Oklahoma State and Wichita State’s game was a resumption of a previously suspended game from March 10, when rain stopped the contest in the seventh inning.

The Shockers led, 8-3, at the time of the stoppage.

The Cowgirls will now travel to face Iowa State for a weekend series, while Wichita State will host UTSA. Both are off Thursday before resuming play Friday.

Oklahoma State is 25-10 and ranked No. 20 in the country.

Rosie Davis and Amanda Hasler lead the team with nine homers, while the Cowboys have a whopping 11 hitters batting over .300, as of Thursday.

Wichita State, meanwhile, isn’t ranked, but has a comfortable 21-15 record.

The Shockers are powered by Trinity Allen (.395/.495/.716, seven homers) and Ausha Moore (.367/.540/.765, 11 homers) at the plate.

The teams have yet to announce a new date to finish the game.
