We’ve got the scoop on what happens once you’re welcomed into MI-5.

On Thursday, March 12, my wife attended a 7 p.m. evening production of Broadway’s “Operation Mincemeat” and gave us the scoop on the Tony Award-winning musical that re-tells the humorous true story of a 1943 British intelligence mission that was cooked up in an effort to thwart Hitler and win WWII.

“We didn’t have to wait too long outside the John Golden Theatre even though the house was totally full,” she said. “The box office treasurers were efficient.”

Once inside the attractive theater that’s just the right size for this small cast musical, she passed a fun merch section that had shirts with the five characters’ names, a classy bar and took a seat in in the back row of the orchestra — “I could see everything and didn’t feel cramped” she noted — that didn’t have “the worst leg room you’ve ever seen plus, since I was close to the back, I was able to run right to the bathroom.”

Over the next two hours and 35 minutes (with a 15-minute intermission baked in where the men’s bathroom line was just as long as the ladies’), she was treated to a show with a “fun, small cast that had amazing chemistry while playing hundreds of characters.”

“The songs were snappy and clever and deceptively simple set hid secret doors, phones, and well-deployed lights,” she added. “The audience was appreciative.”

What struck her most through was the “Dear Bill” song, about a character imagining a letter to a wartime friend who’s gone, which made her cry.

But don’t worry, though- “Operation Mincemeat” is a comedy.

And a good one at that.

“I had a great time,” my wife said. “I’d definitely recommend the show to anyone.”

If you’d like to attend, our team has everything you need to know and more about seeing “Operation Mincemeat” at the John Golden Theater on Broadway below.

Final verdict: My wife is no “mincefluencer” — what the show’s superfans are called — but became a converted fan. “‘Operation Mincemeat’ is definitely worth checking out. The cast is great” was her major takeaway.
