Trey Anastasio has broken free from the school of Phish.
The legendary, floppy-haired frontman just announced he’s striking out on a quick acoustic tour this May and June in between his other group’s Sphere residency and nationwide summer outing (which includes five nights at MSG from July 22-29).
At all solo shows — which he’s dubbed ‘An Acoustic Evening with Trey Anastasio’ — the 61-year-old Vermont native will be joined by his longtime collaborator and keyboardist Jeff Tanski.
That includes his three gigs in New York that wrap the brief run. They’re scheduled to take place at:
Kleinhan’s Music Hall
Buffalo, NY
Saturday, June 20
Capitol Theatre
Port Chester, NY
Tuesday, June 23
Capitol Theatre
Port Chester, NY
Wednesday, June 24
Last year, Anastasio conducted a similar solo acoustic tour in between Phish’s New Year’s Eve MSG residency and spring jaunt.
As expected, the singer/guitarist mixed up what he performed at these shows, according to Set List FM. However, what remained constant is that Anastasio regularly played 30 Phish, Trey Anastasio Band and Ghosts of the Forest songs a night.
“…[he] engage(d) with fans on an intimate level, telling stories and joking with the crowd each night in addition to sharing stripped-down acoustic versions of songs from Phish’s expansive catalog and other projects,” Live For Live Music wrote in a review of an April ’25 New Jersey show.
“…like at Phish shows, the audience was emboldened to participate, whether nailing the claps in ‘Stash’ or loudly and menacingly taunting ‘Wilson,’ but the smaller scale of the venue made the connection between artist and fans feel that much stronger.”

Trey Anastasio new music
On Sept. 20, 2024, Anastasio dropped “Atriums.”
Comprised of six tracks — all of which are anywhere from 14 to 16 minutes long — the record is a spacey, experimental trip, allowing the freewheeling Big Red to noodle, mess around and fiddle finding lush, feedback-heavy soundscapes along the way.
To dive deep into the trippy and sometimes foreboding offering, you can find the expansive, mind-altering “Atriums” here.
More recently, Trey collaborated with Guerilla Toss and Pavement frontman Stephen Malkmus on the angsty single “Red Flag to Angry Bull.”
Jeff Tanski
At all solo shows, Anastasio will be joined by Tanski, who has a background in theater. Over the years, he’s served as the associate music director on Broadway shows like “Jekyll and Hyde” and “Bonnie and Clyde.”
However, he also worked with Anatasio on the score for their 2012 Broadway musical “Hands on a Hardbody,” which netted Tony nominations for stars Keith Carradine and Keala Settle as well as Trey himself.
Huge jam bands on tour in 2026
