Cristo Fernández — better known to millions of fans as Dani Rojas — is giving his professional soccer dreams one more chance.

Fernández, who donned the soccer jersey of the fictional Premier League club AFC Richmond on the Apple TV series “Ted Lasso,” is on an informal tryout with USL Championship side the El Paso Locomotive FC, and appeared in their preseason match over the weekend against New Mexico.

He played 30 minutes in El Paso’s win and was seen in a social media post by the club celebrating with his teammates.

Fernández trained with the club on Tuesday and will be with the Locomotive into next week, the El Paso Times reported.

The 35-year-old actor is no stranger to soccer, and not just because he spent three seasons on a show centered around the sport.

Fernández played youth soccer in Mexico until the age of 15, when an injury led him to acting.

Locomotive FC will decide on Fernández’s future next week, according to the outlet, and for the time being, he has no formal connection to the team.

The USL club is not the first professional team Fernández has spent time with.

MIR97 Media reported that Fernández played with Chicago Fire II earlier this year and scored in a friendly against Forward Madison.

Locomotive FC told the El Paso Times that it declined to discuss Fernández’s future, and USL rules prevent the club from making him available to the media until he signs a contract with the team.

It’s unclear if Fernandez will reprise his role for season 4 of “Ted Lasso,” which is set to drop this summer.

Jason Sudeikis, Hannah Waddingham, Brendan Hunt, Juno Temple, Brett Goldstein and Jeremy Swift are all returning for the newest season of the hit show.
