Denise Richards’ ex Aaron Phypers told a judge he has only $200 and is “just trying to survive” as he faced off in court with the former “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star.

Phypers took the stand in a downtown Los Angeles courtroom seeking temporary spousal support and attorney fees Thursday. At one point, Phypers admitted he “couldn’t buy food” and didn’t “have hot water.”

“It’s embarrassing,” he said to a judge as Richards looked on.

Phypers went through his expenses, and explained to Judge Nicole Bershon he was living in a $15,000-a-month six-bedroom house with his parents and brother.

He said he wanted to leave the pricey pad, but couldn’t afford anywhere else to go, and is facing eviction for non-payment of rent.

The West Valley home, originally shared with Richards, was damaged by “the 34 dogs Denise had” he said. Phypers went on to say he owed $180,000 in back rent and damages.

He also explained he had no car because he had to surrender his Ford F-150 truck due to cashflow woes. When asked by the judge how he got to court, Phypers replied, “I borrowed a car.”

Richards, who was granted a restraining order against her ex, looked on while seated next to her attorney. The animated actress whispered frantically into her lawyer’s ear during her ex’s testimony. She was heard saying “that’s bulls–t” at one point during the proceedings.

The couple were just a few feet away from each other at times, and during court breaks they each went their separate ways in the courthouse hallways.

Richards arrived at the courthouse in a black top, leather skirt and high heels. Her attorney argued that she should not have to pay spousal support because she’s a victim of domestic violence.

“Victims of abuse shouldn’t be required to support their abusers,” lawyer Mark Gross said.

Richards was granted a five-year permanent restraining order against Phypers, on November 7, 2025.

Phypers was arrested in October on four felony accounts related to violence against Richards. Richards claims that Phypers was physically abusive and allegedly gave her a black eye, according to court papers.

He has denied the allegations.

Phyper’s attorney reminded the judge in court that his client has not been convicted of anything. “He just needs to get back on his feet,” he said.
