TNA has some work to do after its debut on AMC, and there’s one glaring issue that may not be going away.
The company missed a chance to make a strong first impression on Thursday as visa issues, subpar production value and having its big angle to set up the main event of Saturday’s Genesis pay-per-view happen after the show went off the air left a portion of fans feeling disappointed by TNA’s first live show on its new network.
It’s an opportunity that feels like it’s coming at the wrong time, as many of the talent who helped breathe new life into TNA are no longer full-time on a roster that is starting to feel too ex-WWE heavy. Heck, there are times both TNA and NXT feel like extensions of the same brand, with multiple talents often appearing on the other’s show weekly and talents across the promotions having held the other’s titles.
Jordynne Grace and Joe Hendry are signed to WWE. Josh Alexander, “Speedball” Mike Bailey and recently Jake Doyle and The Rascalz signed to AEW. That feels like a large chunk of talent that helped TNA build the moment to where it is today.
