That this “interview” was conducted without any lead-in reporting felt like an impressively clandestine coup. In actuality, the interaction was a phone conversation between Harbaugh and Matt Ryan, the new Falcons president of football.
Harbaugh has been in contact with all seven teams with head coach openings — the eighth opening was created when Harbaugh was fired by the Ravens — and he will narrow his list and determine which teams will be granted an in-person interview, either at the team facility or at an off-site location.
The Giants will make the cut for an in-person meeting, The Post has reported.
