Microsoft’s annual Xbox Developer Direct event is taking place on January 22nd this year. The fourth Developer Direct will provide a closer look at two of Microsoft’s biggest Xbox games this year, Forza Horizon 6 and Fable, as well as a first in-depth look at Beast of Reincarnation from Game Freak.

Playground Games will debut the first gameplay of Forza Horizon 6 during the Developer Direct show, after first revealing that the next instalment in the Forza Horizon franchise is set in Japan. Forza Horizon 6 players will be able to experience the neon lights and buildings of Tokyo City, as well as an open world set in various other parts of Japan.

We’ve been waiting to hear more about Playground Games’ other big Xbox title, Fable, after Microsoft delayed its release to 2026. Fable appears to be on track for a release this year, which also marks 25 years of Xbox. “Devs from the Playground team will unveil the magic and mischief that awaits players in this fresh new beginning for the franchise, including a first look at some stunning new gameplay,” says Joe Skrebels, Xbox Wire editor-in-chief.

Game Freak, known for its Pokémon RPG games, will also show off parts of its new Beast of Reincarnation action RPG. It’s launching at some point in 2026 on Xbox Series S / X, PS5, and PC, and in the game you’ll play as Emma, who will be accompanied by a canine friend.

This year’s Xbox Developer Direct will take place at 1PM ET / 10PM PT / 6PM UK on January 22nd and will be streamed live on on Twitch and YouTube.
