For just the third time in both programs’ histories, the Michigan Wolverines will face off against the Texas Longhorns this afternoon.

The teams will meet in the 2025 Cheez-Its Citrus Bowl at 3 p.m. ET today, Dec. 31.

After being ranked No. 1 going into this season, the Longhorns finished off the regular season 9-3. Sitting at 13th in the final rankings of the year and despite beating three top-15 teams, Texas missed the College Football Playoff thanks, in part, to a road loss to a 4-8 Florida team.

After a month mired in scandal for the Wolverines that saw head coach Sherrone Moore fired for an “inappropriate relationship” and subsequently arrested on suspicion of assault, Biff Poggi will serve as Michigan’s interim head coach for today’s game. Former Utah head coach Kyle Whittingham was hired as Michigan’s next coach on Dec. 26, and he’ll be at today’s game to observe the team before officially taking over next season.
