If it wasn’t clear already, it was pretty obvious on Sunday.

The Jets need a ton of help. They need a major talent infusion. They aren’t close to contending.

And while the temptation for a team without any answers at quarterback is to trade up in April’s NFL Draft to make sure they get one, the reality that was their 48-20 loss to the Jaguars speaks to their need to not give away some of the draft capital they gained in the Sauce Gardner and Quinnen Williams deals for a quarterback.

They need all the picks they can get to improve a roster that is so short on talent, particularly on the defensive side of the ball. Currently, the Jets own two first-round picks this year. Through Sunday, those picks stood at No. 5 overall and No. 18, the latter belonging to the Colts.
