ORLANDO — Gary Sheffield has a lot to be proud of. He should be proud he hit more than 500 home runs, drove in more than 1,500 runs, made more than $160 million and was a World Series champion.
He should also be proud that he’s one of eight players to make the latest Hall of Fame ballot from what they call the “contemporary” era, to be voted on here Sunday by Hall of Famers, executives, historians and chroniclers. That, in itself, is quite a feat.
The eight who comprise the ballot were all multiple All-Stars. Several were MVPs and the two pitchers were Cy Young winners.
