A quarter-century after Y2K had its moment, is the NFL entering D2K?
The Seahawks’ Jaxon Smith-Njigba is the fourth wideout in the past five seasons to flirt with the NFL’s first-ever 2,000-yard receiving season. At the same time, the Colts’ Jonathan Taylor is only slightly off of Saquon Barkley’s pace from a 2,000-yard rushing season in 2024.
In the era of 17-game regular seasons — soon-to-be 18-game — are we entering a Decade of 2,000-Yard Chases? Or are we witnessing rare special performances that will be appreciated more with time?
“At those two positions, it’s very difficult to go through an entire season and remain healthy, especially at the running back position,” said Ryan Fitzpatrick, who will be one of the studio analysts for Prime Video’s “Black Friday Football” game at 3 p.m when the Bears visit the Eagles. “They’re both very impressive.”
