On their Sunday off-day, the Jets received terrible news.

Cornerback Kris Boyd was shot in the gut after a night at Midtown’s Sei Less restaurant turned sour in the early hours of Sunday morning.

He was rushed to Bellevue Hospital and is currently in critical but stable condition.

It left a lasting impression on the Jets locker room Monday.

Harrison Phillips admitted the news quickly brought him back to when he lost his former Vikings teammate in a car crash in 2024.

“I almost got a small dose of PTSD because I lost a teammate last summer, Khyree Jackson, in Minnesota, and so your original thoughts go to how terrible of a situation that ended up being and the family involved,” the defensive tackle told reporters over Zoom on Monday. “KB [Boyd] welcomed a baby to the world not too long ago. So your thoughts kind of just go there, and I just opened up my X and just kind of let my thoughts pour out. I was praying for him a lot throughout the day and figured if there’s a few thousand people that could read that and send those prayers up too.”

Phillips was one of the few Jets to reach out on social media following the news.

Jeremy Ruckert revealed the team was in the building together at the time, and they heard about their teammate just like the rest of the world.

“It’s devastating news,” Ruckert said. “Obviously, super grateful it’s not life-changing, and for his family especially, they just had a child. It’s a time for us to come together and prayers for him and his family.”

Boyd, 29, is in his first season with the Jets after having brief one-year stints in Arizona and Houston.

Prior to hopping around the league, he was with the Vikings for four years after the team picked him in the seventh round of the 2019 draft.

In a statement released Sunday, the Jets said, “We are aware of the situation involving Kris Boyd and will have no further comment at this time.”

On Monday, NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported that defensive tackle Khalen Saunders is expected to sign with the Jets.

The veteran two-time Super Bowl winner would be a piece for coach Aaron Glenn to use in place of Quinnen Williams, who was traded to the Cowboys at the deadline.
