The Jaguars generally don’t need any help in losing games, but they may have gotten some on Sunday, when they blew a big lead and fell to the Texans.

They were on the wrong end of a questionable defensive pass interference call late in the fourth quarter of what turned into a 36-29 loss.

With Houston trying to take the lead on a fourth-quarter drive, quarterback Davis Mills tried to hit Christian Kirk with a long pass down the sideline, but the pass was incomplete, broken up by Jacksonville cornerback Jarrian Jones.

Both Jones and Kirk made contact with each other on the play, but Jones was called for the key penalty, a spot foul that gave the Texans the ball at the two-yard line.

They eventually took the lead when Mills ran the ball for a 14-yard touchdown with 31 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter.

On the CBS broadcast, J.J. Watt wasn’t a fan of the pass interference call, noting that both Kirk and Jones were “handfighting” on the play.

Still, it was just one play in what was a catastrophic collapse by Jacksonville, which led 29-10 when the fourth quarter began and was outscored 26-0 in the final quarter.

It was the worst blown loss in franchise history for the Jaguars — and the second-largest comeback in franchise history for Houston.

“The reality is we gave up a 19-point lead to lose the game,” Jacksonville head coach Liam Coen said. “Part of winning in the National Football League is sustaining a lead. We just needed one stop and didn’t get one. You score 29 and you feel like you’re going to have a chance to go get a win, but we didn’t get it done.”
