The day before the dream he and brother Quinnen shared playing together on the same team was shattered at the Tuesday trade deadline, Quincy Williams learned that he had lost his starting linebacker position.

“The coaches talked to me and said I was underperforming, I wasn’t meeting the standard of the team,” Quincy Williams said. “So it was kinda like one of those things that hit you like sideways, and you’re like, ‘Hold on now. You’re talking about me.’ So I actually got a chance to ask them and talk to them like, ‘Hey, what do I need to start doing? What are those things that I need to work on every day?’

“It did ruin my pride till I actually got a chance to talk to ’em and they went through the plays and stuff like that, and I was like, ‘All right bet, now what I need to do every day to get my starting spot back?’ ”

I asked him what specifically he was told by defensive coordinator Steve Wilks and linebackers coach Aaron Curry.
