Vincent Trocheck was placed on long-term injured reserve Wednesday with an upper-body injury, so the Rangers will be without him until at least Nov. 1 against Seattle.
Trocheck had been considered week-to-week after suffering the injury against Buffalo last Thursday and the IR move is retroactive to Saturday, the first game he missed.
Trocheck’s absence has no doubt played a part in the Rangers’ scoring woes, as they’ve been shut out in back-to-back home games.
He was second in goals on the team a year ago and while the Rangers have had plenty of scoring chances in their most recent two losses, they’ve been unable to find the back of the net, becoming the first team in NHL history to fail to score in their first three home games.
The Rangers are also dealing with another injury issue, as Will Borgen didn’t practice Wednesday due to a lower-body injury.
Scott Morrow was called up in case Borgen can’t play in Toronto on Thursday.
