Buccaneers running backs coach Skip Peete suffered “a medical episode” during Wednesday’s walk-through practice and had to be moved offsite for further evaluations, per the team.
“He was attended to by team medical personnel and was responsive, coherent, and in stable condition prior to being transported off site for further medical evaluations,” the statement said.
A video from Fox13 showed an individual on the ground being attended to by several individuals while players in white jerseys stood around.
“Scary moment at today’s walkthrough for the #Bucs,” Sean Barie posted to X. “RB coach Skip Peete suffered a medical episode, was looked at by paramedics and taken to a hospital to get checked out but is alert & in good spirits. Players showed their respect by taking a knee while he was down.”
The 2025 season marks Peete’s third with the organization.
He previously served in the same role with the Cowboys (2020-22, 2007-12), Rams (2016-19), Bears (2013-14) and Raiders (1998-2006).
Peete also held positions in the collegiate ranks with Rutgers, UCLA, Michigan State and Pittsburgh, and is the brother of former NFL quarterback Rodney Peete.
Under Peete’s guidance, the Buccaneers’ rushing attack has been a solid unit over the past few years while the team has won won its third and fourth straight division titles during his time.

Bucky Irving enjoyed a breakout 2024 season last year, and the Buccaneers set franchise records in yards per attempt and total rushing yards, per his team biography.
Tampa Bay rushed for at least 100 yards in 14 of 17 regular-season games while going 10-7 before losing to the Commanders in the wild-card round.
The Buccaneers (3-1) look to rebound from their first loss this Sunday when it visits the Seahawks in a battle of NFC contenders, though reports indicate Irving could miss the game due to injury.
