Maybe the next song to be spliced over Aaron Glenn’s dance moves should be Sammy Davis Jr.’s hit “I’ve Gotta Be Me.”

The Jets first-year head coach became an accidental viral sensation this week because of his sideline reaction to Will McDonald’s blocked field goal return for a touchdown that gave the Jets the lead against the Buccaneers with two minutes remaining in the fourth quarter.

Glenn sprinted down the sideline and then started strutting his stuff with his hands pointed to the sky.

Some funny cut-ups show the video of Glenn as Earth, Wind & Fire’s “September” and “Let’s Groove” play.

Glenn’s kids showed him the videos and memes that made their way across social-media platforms.

“Here’s what I do know: I’m always going to be me. Listen, these guys need someone that’s going to show they believe in them and that’s going to show they are proud of them when they make plays,” Glenn said before Thursday’s first practice of the week. “If I didn’t do that, my wife and kids would’ve said, ‘What’s happening? What’s going on with you?’ I’m glad that I’m never going to be fake.’”

For anyone who thinks a head coach should be more stoic in the moment – especially considering that the Jets turned around and lost the game on a walk-off field goal – Glenn doesn’t care.

“I’m going to always be me: Some people like it, some people don’t. Doesn’t matter,” Glenn said.

“I’m glad people could see my authentic self no matter what. I don’t know what it means when someone says, ‘Is a head coach supposed to act like that?’ How’s a head coach supposed to act? I don’t know. But it was good.”

Glenn has been doing that same dance since he was a player for the Jets celebrating takeaways in the 1990s.
