Xavier Gipson is headed down I-95.

After being cut by the Jets and the Giants in the span of 10 days, Gipson is now a member of the defending Super Bowl champion Eagles after they claimed him off waivers, the team announced on Monday.

Gipson is now on his third team this season after his time with the Jets ended after a costly miscue in their Week 1 loss to the Steelers, and then he spent nine days as a Giant without playing in a game for them.

The Eagles made the move a day after they had had issues on kickoffs during their win over the Rams, which saw Tank Bigsby struggle on two punt returns.

Philadelphia also saw wide receiver Darius Cooper injure his shoulder in that game.

Gipson had spent the first two seasons of his career with the Jets after signing with Gang Green as an undrafted free agent in 2023.

Through 35 career games with the Jets, he had returned 68 punts and 44 kickoffs, while averaging 8.9 yards on the punt returns and 26.0 on the kickoff returns.

As a wide receiver, Gipson had 27 catches for 268 yards for the Jets and a touchdown.

The mistake in the Week 1 game helped the Steelers come from behind in what would end in a 34-32 loss at MetLife Stadium.

Afterward, head coach Aaron Glenn did not sugarcoat the repercussions.

“The one thing to me that turned this game is, man, we can’t have turnovers,” Glenn told reporters after the loss. “We can’t do it. We have to be a more disciplined team. There were some penalties that happened in that game that were true discipline issues and, again, that’s something that will be addressed because you will not be on the field with this team if you’re going to cause us to lose games, if you’re going to cause issues like that.”

Gipson was cut the next day.
