Week 1 of the NFL season is coming to an end, but before we can officially move on to Week 2, it’s time for Monday Night Football!

This season, Monday Night Football is kicking off in Chicago, where the Bears will take on the Minnesota Vikings, their rivals in the NFC North.

The Bears spent this offseason acquiring a roster of tight ends and wide receivers to help propel the team and QB Caleb Johnson to the next level. The team also hired Ben Johnson as head coach; Johnson previously worked as the Detroit Lions’ offensive coordinator and orchestrated one of the NFL’s best offenses over the past three seasons.

The new-look Bears will face the Vikings, who officially enter their McCarthy era after the 2024 No. 10 overall pick, quarterback J.J. McCarthy, was sidelined after suffering a season-ending knee injury during the 2024 preseason. McCarthy will start his first NFL game tonight.

Vikings vs. Bears: what to know

  • When: Sept. 7, 8:20 p.m. ET
  • Where: Soldier Field (Chicago, Illinois)
  • Channel: ESPN and ABC
  • Streaming: DIRECTV (try it free)

Here’s how to tune in to Monday Night Football without cable, no matter where you live in the USA.

Vikings vs. Bears time:

Tonight’s (Sept. 8) Vikings vs. Bears game kicks off at 8:15 p.m. ET.

How to watch Vikings vs. Bears for free:

If you don’t have cable, you’ll need a live TV streaming service to stream Monday Night Football for free. One option we love is DIRECTV, which comes with five days free and starts at $29.99/month for genre packs, with plenty of subscription options and genre packs that include both ABC and ESPN.

You can also watch Monday Night Football on ESPN’s new DTC streaming service, which costs $29.99/month and includes every Monday night Football, 24/7 live ESPN, and more.

Is there a ManningCast tonight?

Yes! The first Monday Night Football of the season will be accompanied by the ManningCast on ESPN2.

Eli and Peyton Manning will be joined by Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley, retired NFL player (and past Viking) Randy Moss, and actor Bill Murray (a notable Bears fan).
