This will often happen this season, as the most patron-friendly “early game” starts are now assigned by the NFL “garbage games” to be played by lesser-regarded teams — thus, until further notice, the Jets and Giants qualify.
Not long ago that never happened because it wasn’t allowed to happen. The NFL would not dismiss its biggest TV market, and at the time the only two-team market, to divide viewers’ attention. But that’s before fans’ best interests counted at least a much as TV money.
