Novak Djokovic admits Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner are the future of tennis.

He’s out to prove he’s still very much the sport’s present.

Djokovic knows full well that most of the world expects Alcaraz and Sinner to meet in Sunday’s U.S. Open final. But he’s looking forward to disappointing them, looking forward to facing — and beating — Alcaraz in Friday’s semifinal.

“We know that they’re [the] two best players in the world. Everybody is probably expecting and anticipating the finals between [the] two of them,” Djokovic said. “I’m going to try to mess up the plans of most of the people.”
