Angel Reese apologized to her teammates for the strong comments that she made in an interview with a Chicago outlet.

Reese bluntly called out the Sky and hinted at going “in a different direction” if the organization didn’t make massive improvements in the offseason in an article in the Chicago Tribune. She also seemed to take shots at a number of her teammates.

The Sky star walked some of that back following Chicago’s 88-64 win over the Sun on Wednesday night, when she had 18 points and 13 rebounds.

“I don’t think I’m frustrated. I’m more frustrated with myself right now,” Reese said, responding to a reporter’s question, which referenced the article. “I think the language is taken out of context, and I didn’t mean to intentionally put it on my teammates because they have been through this with me throughout the whole year. They’ve busted their ass just like l’ve busted my ass. They’ve shown up for me through thick and thin in the locker room when nobody could see anything.”

Earlier in the day, Reese told the Tribune that she didn’t think Rachel Banham and Hailey Van Lith could lead a playoff charge for the Sky, and questioned whether the team could rely on Courtney Vandersloot, who tore her ACL earlier in the season.

Reese also said that she and Kamilla Cardoso were the only guarantees for the 2026 Sky roster.

Her teammates were aware of the comments in the article and were not happy with them, with a meeting planned to address Reese, Front Office Sports reported.

“I would apologize to my teammates, which I already have, about the article and about how it was misconstrued about what was said,” Reese said. “I just have to be better with my language because I know it’s not the message, it’s the messenger, and understanding that what I say can be taken any kind of way.

“So I have to be better and grow from this.”

Sky coach Tyler Marsh told reporters that he spoke to Reese before Wednesday’s game, but didn’t want to divulge the contents of the conversation.

He also confirmed that the players had a meeting with Reese to address the situation.

“I think that everyone had their opportunities to speak, and we’ll leave it at that,” Marsh said.
