Memphis Grizzlies center Zach Edey was scolded by a policewoman for driving over 100 mph during a May traffic stop in Indiana, as seen in State Police body cam footage.

The 23-year-old Edey, who said he was on his way to Purdue, his alma mater, was pulled over in Tippecanoe County and accused of going 101 mph in a 55 mph zone.

“You know exactly why I pulled you over,” the officer said. “You were going 101!”

Edey explained that he was speeding up to pass a car in front of him, but the cop was furious and continued to give him a stern lesson in “logic in how the vehicle gets up to speed.”

“No, you don’t pass at 100!” she said. “The road is 55. You were going almost double the speed limit!”

“You could pass someone at 80,” she continued. “Eighty? OK. One hundred?! One hundred is not OK. Ever. You were speeding before that, and that’s how you were able to get up to 100.”

After Edey handed the officer his license and registration, she gave him a citation for speeding, as well as a second citation for reckless driving, which she said was “absolutely” fair.

“It’s a jailable offense. I’m not taking you to jail,” she said before telling him that the court would contact him.

“Slow down,” she added before letting Edey leave.

The 7-foot-4 Canadian reached a deal with prosecutors to close the case on July 23, according to TMZ.

Edey admitted to a speeding offense and agreed to pay $639.50, and officials dropped the misdemeanor reckless driving charge.

Edey has yet to publicly address the incident.

It’s unclear if he will face discipline by the Grizzlies and the NBA.

The former first-round pick averaged 9.2 points and 8.3 assists 70 games last season, including playoffs.
