The Yankees have some breathing room in the wild-card race, but if we’ve learned anything from them this season, it’s that those cushions can disappear in a hurry.

That means the Bombers will need to take care of business against the lowly Nationals on Wednesday afternoon in The Bronx.

Looking to bet on Yankees vs. Nationals? The folks at bet365 have a bonus code where you can bet $5 and get $200 in bonus bets, whether you win or lose.

What our Post expert thinks about Yankees vs. Nationals on Wednesday

The Yankees will turn to their ace, Max Fried, for the matinee on Wednesday.

Fried has tumbled down to earth after a torrid start to the campaign, but he bounced back with a terrific outing against the Red Sox in his last appearance.

The veteran southpaw will need to carry that form ahead to Wednesday’s game, as he’ll be taking on an in-form Cade Cavalli in this matchup.

Cavalli comes into this start with a 2.82 ERA and 1.34 WHIP in 22 1/3 innings of work.

Cavalli’s form is encouraging, but there’s still no doubt who is the A-side of this pitching matchup.

There’s no excuse for the Yanks not to collect the win in this one.
