If you’re rushing to see Sinners in IMAX, you’ll have a bit more time. Today, Warner Bros. has announced Ryan Coogler’s sexy and soulful vampire thriller will get a 70mm IMAX re-release at select locations around the world.
“Audiences have spoken and we listened,” said Jeff Goldstein, Warner Bros. president of global distribution in a statement to Variety. “We wanted to give everyone the opportunity to see it — or see it again — in 70mm IMAX.”
The movie was set to leave IMAX screens to make room for Marvel’s Thunderbolts*. On social media, theatergoers posted about going to see Sinners in IMAX on off hours only to find packed or very nearly packed showings and would compare them to considerably less packed primetime showings of Thunderbolts*.
The re-release of Sinners in 70mm IMAX will begin May 15th and run through May 21st. But if you’re like me and don’t live anywhere near an IMAX showing, you can still have a pretty good time seeing Sinners in standard definition.
