A new documentary about actor Matthew Perry’s death and the criminal investigation that followed is now streaming.

“Matthew Perry: A Hollywood Tragedy” is a Peacock original from director Robert Palumbo and production company ITN Productions, a leader in the true crime and factual documentary industry. The doc examines what led to the “Friends” star’s shocking passing at 54 years old and the fight for justice that continues as multiple people were charged in connection with his death in the months that follow.

Perry, who battled drug addiction for years, was found dead in the hot tub of his Calif. home in October 2023 and medical examiners found that the actor had “3 times [the] normal amount” of ketamine in his system when he drowned. Perry used the drug as a treatment for anxiety and depression, and investigations into where he got the ketamine from were opened in May 2024.

In August 2024, five arrests were made in connection with Perry’s death; these included his assistant, who administered the fatal dosage, two doctors, and two drug dealers, including Jasveen Sangha who is known as “the Ketamine Queen.”

The new Peacock documentary features interviews with law enforcement experts and the district attorney whose office charged the five defendants, in addition to a sit down with actress Morgan Fairchild, who played the mother of Perry’s Chandler Bing on “Friends.”

Noticeably absent from the doc are Perry’s other “Friends” co-stars, who were reluctant to appear in a documentary about Perry at this point in time, per the director.

‘Matthew Perry: A Hollywood Tragedy’ release date:

“Matthew Perry: A Hollywood Tragedy” premiered on Peacock today, Feb. 25. It is now streaming for all Peacock subscribers.

How to watch ‘Matthew Perry: A Hollywood Tragedy’

As a Peacock original, you’ll need a Peacock subscription to watch “Matthew Perry: A Hollywood Tragedy.”

Peacock costs $7.99/month or $79.99/year with ads. If you choose to go ad-free, you’ll pay $13.99/month or $139.99/year.

Unfortunately, Peacock does not have a free trial, so a paid subscription is the only way to stream the new documentary.

Read Matthew Perry’s book:

If you want to read about Perry’s life and addiction struggles in his own words, the actor released “Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing: A Memoir”in November 2022. It charts his rise to fame, time on “Friends,” struggles with drug and alcohol addiction, rehab stints, and the hard recovery from a life-threatening health scare.
